Welcome
Mel & Jessica
Back in 2008, Mary was in the recording studio with her good friend Thai Long Ly recording some music. Together, they recorded “Warmth of Him”. Although first rumored to be a pre-release single, Winstead confirmed that she was just exploring her interests and does not plan on releasing any music albums. (Kind of a bummer, wouldn’t you say? Mary has an amazing voice.
)
Anyway, back on topic. Photos from that recording session have now been added to the gallery. Additionally, if you care to hear the single, visit Thai’s Myspace page here
PopCandiesTv posted a video of Mary leaving The Jimmy Kimmel Live show and greeting her fans.
Newcomer Mary Elizabeth Winstead knows exactly what made shooting her new film, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, so amazing: she made a new BFF in co-star Anna Kendrick!
“She’s so great, she’s so funny!” the 25-year-old actress gushed to HollywoodLife.com exclusively at the film’s LA premiere July 27. “The two of us, we were just sitting up there watching the first fight [scene] in the balcony together for a week and a half, and we were always talking about gossip, film news and just gabbing about everything!”
She added, “She’s so smart and so funny and such a fantastic actress. It’s just so great she’s in this movie!”
Anna, 24, has another admirer in star Michael Cera, although he’s adamant that he wouldn’t like to appear with his co-star in her fourth Twilight Saga film, Breaking Dawn. “I’d rather be in the Up in the Air sequel,” he told us with a laugh.
Mary did an interview for Spin Magazine and talked about her favorite music. Along the way, she revealed she will be getting married to long-time boyfriend Riley Stearns in October! We here at Miss-Winstead.com wish them both the happiest of nuptials!
What was the last concert you attended?
I went to see Bat for Lashes in Toronto. It was mesmerizing. [Scott Pilgrim director] Edgar Wright had sent me “What’s a Girl to Do?” and I became completely obsessed with the video of her on the bike with the boys in bunny costumes.
Which of your costars had the best taste in music?
Brie Larson and I connected over French pop. She was really into Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg, and I had just discovered France Gall.
Who would you like to portray in a rock biopic?
Fiona Apple. I’m a singer and I’d like to do “Never Is a Promise.”
What’s the first album you bought with your own money?
Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’. When I was in fifth grade, I thought I was 17. I have memories of listening to “You Oughta Know” on the radio and knowing the “Are you thinking of me when you blank her?” part was coming up and trying to switch the station really fast. The embarrassment of hearing those words in the presence of your parents is the worst.
Name the band that comes after Radiohead on your iPod.
The Raincoats.
Who would we be surprised to learn is in your collection?
mewithoutYou. My boyfriend and I met on a cruise when we were 18 and bonded over their second album, especially “Nice and Blue, Pt. 2.” We’re getting married in October.
What song will you dance to at the wedding?
I’ve been shopping for music from the ’50s and ’60s, like the Shangri-Las, the Shirelles, and Roy Orbison. I really love Ben E. King, so I think one of the slow dances will be “Stand by Me.”
Name a song you listened to in the past 24 hours.
“Crystalised.” I thought I was the only one who knew about the xx, but they caught on so quickly I feel like I’m late getting on the bandwagon.
Who’s the most controversial artist that you’ve ever been a fan of?
Madonna. I was nine when her Erotica album came out, and my friends and I had a little group that we named “Erotica” even though we had no idea what it meant. We were like, “It’s pretty, it’s cool, it’s erotica.”
Edgar Wright has said that despite visual changes, his upcoming movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World shares the same sense of humour as his earlier work.
The director told Metro that the comic book adaptation is “not really” all that different from his previous British movies.
Wright told Metro: “It’s got an American cast but my sensibility is still there. It’s visually different from Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz but has the same sense of humour.
“It had a bigger budget but you don’t feel the benefits when you have an overreaching ambition. It was great working with new people but the process is the same – I just work very hard. Whatever the schedule is I work seven days a week, 24 hours a day.”
When asked why his films have such a cult following, he added: “I hope it’s because people want to watch the films I’ve made more than once. I include lots of details so people can pick up on different things when they watch it a second time.
“When people respond to those things it’s great. The greatest compliment you can get is when people repeat dialogue from the film back to you. Our fans are very loyal and like to get every joke.” (Source)
Another new poster was found at the ShoWest convention last night. The tagline reads “An epic of epic epicness.”

And a bit of a side note, Bryan Lee O’Malley tweeted the following: “Later today I am going to do the official tease of the announcement. So I guess the previous thing was the tease of the tease.”
Edit: Wright wrote “For those who are asking: a hi res teaser poster for ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is coming soon.”
Anna Kendrick has compared her upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs the World to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Kill Bill.
The Up in the Air star plays Stacey Pilgrim in Edgar Wright’s comic book adaptation.
Speaking to MTV, the 24-year-old praised the film and called it “awesome”.
“There’s nothing to compare it to. It’s like the energy from Ferris Bueller and the action from Kill Bill. It’s amazing,” she said.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World also stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jason Schwartzman and Brandon Routh. The film opens in cinemas later this year. (Source)
