Papermag: The Girls of Summer

Who: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Plays: Ramona V. Flowers, Scott Pilgrim’s true love
On rehearsals: “We’d come to work, have physical training in the morning, go off to kung fu training, have a couple hours of rehearsal, always rotating from one to another — it was like going to the coolest school ever.”
Edgar says… “Mary had been my choice for Ramona for almost two years before we started filming. She has a very sunny disposition as a person, so it was interesting to get her to play a version of herself that was broken inside. She’s great in the film because she causes a lot of chaos but remains supernaturally grounded.” (Source)

We’re not just talking physical beauty, we want you to rank on a whole range of topics such as…

Attitude, style, career choices, charity and conservation involvement, role model status, and behavior.

The top fifty most nominated will compete in a poll over on Portrait. Top twenty will feature in their first annual ’20 most beautiful’ article and the winner will cover our first ever Beauty issue.

Please click this link, fill out the form and tell everyone you know to help get our girl nominated for most beautiful. She deserves it!

Also, if you haven’t already done so, VOTE for Mary to be Portrait’s newest cover girl. She’s still in third place and there’s plenty of time to vote until the poll closes on the 15th. Just go on Portait magazine’s homepage and on the right hand side, select Mary’s name for August Portrait cover.

Mary Talks Scott Pilgrim!

In an interview with this months issue of Total Film, the actress has gone into further detail about her role as Ramona Flowers in the upcoming movie which is set to be released on 13th August later this year!

On What She Thinks About Michael Cera:

“He’s like the coolest guy ever. I feel so lucky to be able to work with him because he’s so sweet and such a hard working actor. He’s really one of a kind!”

On Ramona Flowers Ever Changing Hair Color:

“It’s been cool for me! I’m more used to this than I am my normal hair now, so I’m going to be extremely bored with myself when this is over!”

On Weilding A Giant Hammer:

“I get to use it like a really cool weapon, kung-fu style. It was really fun to get to learn that and execute it in a way that looks cool on screen. It feels really rewarding. It was tough, but I definitely felt tough and crazy!”

On What She Thinks Of The Movie:

“The stuff I’ve seen so far is just ridiculous, it looks so awesome. There’s so much going on in this movie as it is. It’s going to be super fast-paced and crazy, and there’s going to be so much to take in. They’ve done a great job…”

Mary Attending Comic Con!

In what it’s dubbing “Scott Pilgrim vs. Comic-Con,” Universal is making sure that “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” will have its presence felt at the convention in advance of the movie’s Aug. 13 release.

Starting Thursday afternoon and running though the weekend, “Pilgrim” will take over the area across from the convention center near and in the Hilton Gaslamp to create an “immersive experience.” One of the experiences will be a “Pilgrim” room with a DJ spinning tracks and more importantly … a make-your-own-T-shirt stand where cast members will help construct shirts for fans.

That’s right: Stars Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick and even director Edgar Wright will take shifts to dress you.

“Pilgrim” will also be the centerpiece of Universal’s Thursday afternoon panel in Hall H. “Paul,” the studio’s sci-fi comedy about two geeks traveling to a comic convention, will bring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, among other cast members, on stage.

So that basically means that Wright, Pegg and Frost will be on stage together. Fans of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz” rejoice!
